Example: a weekend away for three
Alex, Sam and Maya spend a weekend in Lisbon and pay in euros:

Net balances: Alex +€170, Sam −€60, Maya −€110. Settle-up: Maya pays Alex €110 and Sam pays Alex €60. Two transfers and everyone is even.
How the math works
- Each expense is converted to the main currency with the rate you enter, then divided equally, by shares or by exact amounts between the people who took part.
- Each person’s net balance = what they paid − their share of everything.
- Balances add up to zero, so the group can always settle in at most n − 1 transfers for n people.
For example, if you enter 1 GBP = 1.15 EUR (use the real rate you got), a £20 taxi counts as €23.00 in a euro trip. Rates are entered by hand on purpose, so the split matches what you actually paid.
Holiday costs are easier to settle when each expense is added as it happens. Anyone can add expenses on their own copy, then send the updated link back to the group.

How do I split travel expenses with friends?

Can we pay in different currencies?
Yes. Add each expense in the currency you paid in, choose a main currency for the trip and enter the exchange rates yourself. Up to 16 currencies are supported.
How do I share the trip with the group?
Press “Copy share link” and send it to the group. The whole split is stored in the link, so anyone who opens it sees the same people, expenses and transfers.
What if someone missed an activity?
Untick that person on the expense. They won’t pay any part of it.
Is there a limit on people or expenses?
A single split can hold up to 50 people and 200 expenses.
Do we all need an account?
No. There is no signup and nothing to install. The split lives in the link and in the browser of whoever opens it.
