About Split the Bill
Split the Bill is a free web tool for dividing shared costs: a restaurant bill, the rent, or a whole trip with friends. It runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no app to install and no server that stores your splits.
What it does
- Quick bill split: total, tip, tax and number of people, with an optional round-up.
- Group / trip split: people, expenses, who paid, and splits that are equal, by shares or by exact amounts, with people excluded where needed.
- Multiple currencies with exchange rates you enter yourself.
- Settle-up in at most n − 1 transfers for n people.
- Share link: the whole split is stored in the link, after the
#. - Rent split: monthly rent between roommates, evenly or by agreed shares.
How it works
All amounts are calculated in whole cents so the shares always add up to the total. Settle-up first matches people who owe exactly what someone else is owed, then pairs the largest debt with the largest credit. Your last 10 group splits, your theme and your currency choice are kept in your browser’s local storage on your device.
What it does not do
Split the Bill does not move money, connect to bank accounts, fetch live exchange rates or sync between devices.
