Summary

Split the Bill has no accounts and no server-side storage of your splits. Calculations run in your browser.

Calculations

Everything you type into the calculators (amounts, names, expense titles) is processed by JavaScript in your browser. It is not sent to our server.

Share links

In group mode the split is compressed into the page address after the # sign. Browsers do not send this part of the address to the web server when the page loads. Anyone you give the link to can read the split, including the names in it, so share it only with the people you intend to.

Data stored on your device

These items are kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device:

• billsplit.recent: your last 10 group splits (“Recent splits”).
• stb-theme: light or dark theme, if you chose one.
• stb-currency: your preferred currency, if you changed it.
• stb-consent: your cookie choice and the date you made it.

You can remove a recent split with its × button, or clear all of this by clearing the site data in your browser settings.

Advertising and cookies

There are no ads on the site yet. If ads (Google AdSense) are added, this section will describe the cookies used and your choices. Details: [to be provided]

Analytics
