Who we are

This site is operated by [to be provided] (owner / legal entity), [to be provided] (country). Contact: [to be provided] (contact email).

Your groups stay on your device

Everything you type into the generator (names, optional emails, wish lists, group name, budget, date, note, exclusions and draws) is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key “giftshuffle:v1”. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. Delete one group with “Delete this group from this device”, everything with “Delete all data”, or clear your browser’s site data.

Reveal links

Each reveal link contains one person’s details inside the link itself: their name, who they’re buying for, that person’s wish list, the group name, budget, date, note, a draw ID and the draw date. These details come after the # sign, which browsers do not send to web servers and which is not sent to Google Analytics. They are scrambled so they aren’t readable at a glance, but this is not encryption: anyone with the link can open it. Email addresses are never put into links. The reveal page asks browsers not to send its address to other sites (“no-referrer”) and is excluded from search engines.

Sharing buttons

The WhatsApp, Text and Email buttons open WhatsApp, your messaging app or your email app with a pre-written message. We do not send any message. What happens next is governed by those apps’ own privacy terms.

What the server receives

Like any website, the hosting server receives standard technical request data (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) when you load a page. Server log handling by our hosting provider: [to be provided].

Cookies and similar storage

We use local storage for your groups and your theme choice. These are needed for the site to work and are not used for tracking. Google Analytics, loaded by Google Tag Manager, sets its own cookies on every visit (see Analytics). There are no advertising cookies.

Advertising (future)

We plan to show ads on some pages (never in the generator form, the results or on reveal pages). Ad vendors: [to be provided]. There is no advertising on the site today; this policy will be updated before any is added.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (GA4), both services of Google, to count visits and see which pages and features are used. Google Tag Manager loads on every page, including reveal pages, and runs on every visit; it loads Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (such as _ga, see below).

Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga and _ga_WFP64VJ916) and sends Google information such as the pages you view (without the part of the address after #), your browser and device, and your IP address, which Google uses to estimate your general location. The site also passes two kinds of feature counts to Google Tag Manager, which can forward them to Google Analytics: that a draw happened, with the group size as a range (for example “6–10”), and which share button was pressed (for example “WhatsApp”). Google Analytics never receives names, emails, wish lists, notes or the contents of a reveal link. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Analytics data retention setting: [to be provided].

Children

This site is for a general audience and is not directed at children. Children can take part in a family draw, usually with a parent opening their link.

Your rights

Because we do not collect what you type into the generator, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. For questions about server logs, analytics or this policy, contact [to be provided] (contact email). Applicable data-protection law: [to be provided].

Changes

We will update this page when anything changes and show the date at the top.
