Sudoku on paper
Some puzzles are best with a pencil. This page builds a sheet of sudoku puzzles from the same bank as the online game, so every puzzle has exactly one solution and is graded by the techniques it needs. Choose a level, how many puzzles you want on each page, and whether to include an answer key, then press Print to send it straight to your printer or Download PDF to save a file.
Each new set is picked at random. Press “New set of puzzles” for a different selection; changing the level or layout keeps the same puzzle codes where it can.
Choosing a layout
- One per page gives a large grid with room for pencil marks, the best choice for hard and expert puzzles.
- Four per page is a good everyday size: big enough to write in comfortably, and four puzzles to a sheet.
- Six per page saves paper and suits easy puzzles, quick warm-ups and handouts.
- Large print uses one puzzle per page with bigger digits and heavier lines, for anyone who finds small print hard to read.
Answer keys and puzzle codes
With “Answer key” ticked, the solutions print on their own pages after the puzzles, six to a page, numbered to match. You can hand out the puzzle pages and keep the answers. Under every puzzle there is a short code and a link such as expday.com/sudoku/play/#seed=48213&level=easy: open it to play the same puzzle online, use hints, or check a single cell without looking at the whole answer.
For classrooms and puzzle clubs
Teachers often use easy sudoku as a quiet logic warm-up: there is no arithmetic, only reasoning about where a digit can go. Print six easy puzzles per page for a class set, or one medium puzzle per page for a longer challenge. The how to play guide makes a good handout to go with a first sheet, and the strategy pages explain the techniques the harder levels need.
Printing tips
Print and PDF both leave out the site header, ads and buttons, so only the puzzles appear. For the cleanest result, turn off “headers and footers” in your browser's print dialog. The PDF uses standard fonts and is created in your browser; nothing is uploaded. If you prefer to solve today's daily puzzle on paper, open the daily sudoku and press Print under the grid.
Frequently asked questions
Are the printable puzzles free?
Yes, for personal and classroom use. There is no sign-up.
Do the printables include answers?
Yes, if you tick “Answer key”. The answers print on separate pages after the puzzles, so you can hand out the puzzles without them.
What does large print do?
It prints one puzzle per page with bigger digits and thicker lines, which is easier to read and write in.
What is the code under each puzzle?
It identifies the puzzle. Enter the link shown (expday.com/sudoku/play/#seed=…) to play the same puzzle online or check a single answer.
Print or PDF: which should I use?
Print sends the page straight to your printer using your browser’s print dialog. Download PDF creates a file you can save, share or print later, in Letter or A4 size.
Can I print the daily puzzle?
Yes. On the daily puzzle page, press Print under the grid to print the current level.
